Colin is a player who loves to get split up from the party. From a gameplay perspective, that's awesome, the players get to accomplish twice as much while experiencing the challenge of a reduced party. This also works beautifully for Tamaki, he's a rogue with adventure lust, so getting separated from the group is about his speed.
Did anybody else notice that of the three goblins, only one was armed? Another was shot in the back. Rogues aren't honorable combatants. In fact, following the rules the only time they can really truly hurt anybody is by sneak attack. The point is, you aren't supposed to think Tamaki is being especially heroic right now.
For those of you unfamiliar, a hat trick is a hockey term meaning a player has scored three goals in one game.
