Ambitiously titled "Knight on Stairs" |
I don't often draw something and say "Wowee, that looks pretty great." This isn't an exception, but I like to think my art's been improving. It's an odd thought for me, considering how often I make fun of art students (but this is a hobby for me, not a career).
Speaking of art students, occasionally I pretend there's something more to my work. For instance, what is this man's quest? Where is he going, where is he from? The stairs suggest some sort of transition, he's either returning from some quest, or rising to a challenge. Considering his weapon is drawn, I would assume the latter.
So is the Knight a metaphor? Perhaps this piece is an allegory of my life; work is busy for the holidays and I have to rise to the occasion? Nope. It's just a knight, and I like drawing them. There's rarely more to my work than meets the eye.
