It's too often in the fantasy genre that we forget that orcs are vicious, nasty creatures. They're supposed to be bigger than your average man and stronger too, but the heroes can fight a hundred at a time without breaking a sweat.

I play around with stats a lot as a DM, and I think that orcs are one of the better tools a DM has at their disposal when building simple melee encounters. Orcs have no physical drawbacks or level adjustments, making them a perfect choice for a barbarian. It only takes minutes to modify a standard barbarian's stats to become an orc, which can be advanced to be a challenge at any level.

I think it's important to note that Lyle hasn't drawn his sword yet. It makes me think he's a swell fella because he's giving his attacker a chance.
